ZacPak partners with Fortress Logistics
ZacPak has signed a 15-year lease with Fortress Logistics for 15,664m² warehousing space at the Clairwood Logistics Park in KwaZulu Natal. The facility is expected to be completed in May 2023.
“This signature development in KZN combines prime port access with best-in-class logistics infrastructure,” said Jason Cooper, Head of Developments for Fortress Logistics Real Estate.
ZacPak, a wholly owned subsidiary of SACO CFR Freight SA (Pty) Ltd, is a leading brand in the ever-evolving freight movement industry. ZacPak facilitates their clients’ warehousing needs through ZDOS, their proprietary "de-grouping" system. It enables clients of both ZacPak and SACO CFR to track and trace shipments from A to Z, utilising barcoding to maximise productivity and service.
At the sod-turning event earlier this month, Dave Graham, the Group CEO of SACO CFR (Pty) Ltd, said, “Nearly 10 years ago, we opened our first ZacPak facility in Durban. Today marks a huge milestone for us as we begin the development of our new home. We look forward to continuing to ‘shift our clients worlds’ even more in future.”
Clairwood Logistics Park’s proximity to the Durban port - just 11km from the Durban Container Terminal – is ideal for ZacPak. Their service offerings include cargo receipt; release management; handling; origination; verification; postponement warehousing within a Customs Licensed Depot environment; and transportation of both containers and cargo.
ZacPak is in good company – African Sugar Logistics, Super Group and King’s Rest (to name a few) have all signed leases for space at Clairwood Logistics Park. The Park plays an important role in positioning Africa’s largest port, and the city of Durban, as a leading national – and indeed global – innovation hub. Its’ location has uniquely impacted its evolution and innovation from a logistics perspective, especially its ability to handle containerised cargo.
While the whole park boasts 360,000m² of state-of-the-art warehousing, Fortress’s development of individual pockets has been driven almost entirely by client needs. This new generation logistics park is highly sought after by tenants, given its location and accessibility within this industrial node.
“Fortress Logistics looks forward to continuing to work with clients to deliver world-leading logistics infrastructure in support of Durban’s position as largest and busiest shipping terminal in sub-Saharan Africa,” concludes Cooper.
